Ex Van Diemen engineers Lindsay Allen and Roger Littin formed Fluid Motorsport Development late in 2004, having worked together for many years accumulating a string of successes both in Formula Ford both in the UK and Europe with drivers who went on to achieve great success such as Marcus Ambrose, Patrick Long, James Courtney, Ricardo van der Ende they decided to try to go it alone.
Their first venture Nexa Racing was founded in 2002. Their first taste of success came when they won the Formula Ford winter series with Sebastian Hohenthal, building on this early success Lindsay and Roger signed Finnish hopeful Valle Makela who achieved 3rd in the 2003 UK Formula Ford Championship in his first season and then went on to take the title in his 2nd season with the team, taking 10 race wins from 20 starts. In 2005 having found success in Formula Ford Lindsay and Roger were ready for their next challenge and decided to branch out into Formula 3 with the Lola chassis, running young Brit Ben Clucas who scored a debut pole and victory at Monza. They followed in their winning ways in 2006 signing South African Cristiano Morgado who scored no less than 18 podium finishes including 4 wins from 22 races and claiming 2nd place in the National Class Championship. The UK Formula Ford Championship was somewhat in decline in 2005 so Lindsay and Roger took their expertise to the Scandinavian Championship traveling back and forth helping young Scandinavian drivers. The advent of the Duratec engine created a real resurgence in the Formula Ford Championship and in 2006 Fluid signed James Nash to run in the Duratec Championship and a young Japanese lad Takashi Nagase- Sonic to everyone in the paddock. James secured five podium finishes in his first season in Duratec, with Takashi achieving many wins and podiums and gaining 2nd place in the prestigious Formula Ford Festival. Sticking with the Lola Chassis Fluid entered the 2007 season having secured two F3 drivers, Sean Petterson from South Africa who was stepping up to F3 having competed previously in Formula Ford in the UK and Mexican Juan Pablo Garcia. Sean found himself on the 2nd step of the podium at his first meeting of the season at Oulton Park followed by a forth at Donington, he then took the decision to step up to Championship Class. With the Formula Ford Championship back on the up and up in 2007 Takashi signed for another season alongside South African Marc Murray after a somewhat slow start to the season up and coming young British Driver Jay Bridger unhappy where he was swapped seats with Marc Murray. Jay joined Fluid for the final five rounds of the season finding himself on the podium at each of the meetings including one win. As well as running cars in the UK Formula Ford and UK F3 Championships Fluid have formed very close links with Ford UK running the Ford RS development car piloted by the likes of British Formula One legend Damon Hill.
To add another string to their Fluid bow, they have joined forces with Elvin Nielsen of Elvin Nielsen Motorsport and Flemming Schleimann of Sturup Raceway from Denmark to bring young Danish karters through the ranks of British Formula Ford. The first driver to benefit from this partnership is young Dane Marco Sorensen. Marco competed with Fluid at last years Formula Ford Festival and has signed to compete in the UK Formula Ford Championship 2008. The 2008 season saw the team win the F3 National Class Championship with Jay Bridger and 3 race wins in Formula Ford towards the latter part of the season. For 2009, the team made the decision to not compete in F3 and instead to concentrate soley on winning the Formula Ford Championship.
